Lynn Ruane, a screenwriter and Senator, recently premiered her debut feature film, “Ready Or Not,” at the Dublin International Film Festival. The film is based on her MACW dissertation screenplay. Playwright Charlie McGuinness, another 2022 graduate, won the 2024 RTÉ PJ O’Connor Radio Drama Award for his play, “Clarity At Last.” His classmate, Tom Tierney, was also shortlisted for the same award, showcasing the program’s ability to cultivate exceptional dramatic writing talent.
Success at the An Post Irish Book Awards
DCU’s Creative Writing M.A. graduates also shone brightly at the An Post Irish Book Awards. Kathleen MacAdam (MACW 2023) won the New Irish Writing Best Short Story award for her poignant piece, “Valentine’s Day,” which originated from an in-class prompt. Fiona McPhillips (MACW 2022), author of the critically acclaimed novel “When We Were Silent,” was shortlisted for the Irish Independent Crime Fiction Book of the Year award.
