Trinity College Dublin’s Community Event Makes a Difference

Trinity College Dublin recently hosted its annual Trinity on the Move event, a vibrant community gathering that raises crucial funds for the Student Hardship Fund. This year’s event, held on March 19th, saw students, staff, and alumni come together to participate in walks, jogs, and cycling activities in the iconic College Park. The collective effort resulted in an impressive €3,275 raised for students facing financial challenges.

How Trinity on the Move Supports the Student Hardship Fund

The Student Hardship Fund at Trinity College Dublin provides vital financial assistance to students struggling with unexpected costs or personal circumstances that may impact their studies. Trinity on the Move directly contributes to this fund, ensuring that students can continue their education without undue financial burden. Donations help cover essential expenses such as accommodation, food, and course materials, allowing students to focus on their academic pursuits.

Making a Difference Through Movement

The event fostered a strong sense of community, with participants enjoying the camaraderie and the opportunity to support a worthy cause. From the colorful banners of the Trinity Access Programmes (TAP) walk to the record-breaking performance by DUHAC in the Women’s 3 x 800m, the energy and enthusiasm were palpable. College Health promoted well-being with a social walk featuring warm-up and cool-down exercises conducted in the Irish language (Gaeilge), showcasing the university’s commitment to cultural inclusion. Donncdha Carroll from Trinity Sport exemplified dedication by cycling an impressive 207km, while Professor Neville Cox and colleagues from the Law School took on the challenge of a half Ironman.
