Visual Art (Sherkin Island) BA (Hons)

The Visual Art (Sherkin Island) BA (Hons) program at Technological University Dublin is an innovative 4-year undergraduate program that offers students the unique opportunity to pursue their creative passions in a stunning coastal location. This degree combines studio-based art practices with critical and contextual studies, allowing students to explore the technical, aesthetic and conceptual sides of art with equal regard. Through courses on topics such as drawing, painting, sculpture and photography combined with lectures on art history and cultural theory, students will gain an in-depth understanding of the medium while developing the skills to create meaningful works of art informed by theory and practice. In addition, the program features field trips to nearby galleries, museums and artist's studios as well as work placements within Sherkin Island's vibrant creative community. Upon graduation from this program, students will be well-prepared for professional careers in fields such as arts management & curatorial practices; illustration; graphic design; or contemporary craft & design.
