Linguistics (JH) BA Hons

The four-year Bachelor of Arts Hons in Linguistics program at Trinity College Dublin is a comprehensive and interdisciplinary degree that equips students with the knowledge and skills to understand language, its structure, and its use. The curriculum focuses on developing strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and quantitative reasoning through courses in linguistics, phonetics, semantics, sociolinguistics, psychology of language learning, as well as computer programming for linguists. Students will also gain hands-on experience through fieldwork where they can apply their knowledge to real-world contexts. Graduates from this program are well prepared for careers in teaching English as a foreign language, translation services, speech therapy or public relations roles. They may also pursue further studies leading towards advanced degrees such as Master's or Doctoral programs in Linguistics or related fields like Cognitive Science or Education allowing them to become experts within their chosen field while making meaningful contributions towards understanding linguistic phenomena.
