The Postgraduate Diploma in Experimental Archaeology & Material Culture at University College Dublin is a one-year program designed to provide students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for conducting research projects on the material culture of past societies. This interdisciplinary program features a comprehensive curriculum that covers topics such as art, architecture, archaeology, anthropology, history, and material science. Students will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through laboratory-based courses and fieldwork-based projects that allow them to explore the physical remains of past societies. In addition, they will develop transferable skills such as data analysis, project management, and critical thinking that are relevant in both academic and professional contexts. Graduates from this program will be well-prepared for careers in academia or industry settings related to ancient material cultures. With the ability to apply their knowledge to a range of archaeological contexts, students will be well placed to make a meaningful contribution to our understanding of past societies.
