The Master of Science in Sociology at University College Dublin is a one-year course that provides an in-depth exploration of the various theories and concepts associated with sociology. This program focuses on the study of social behaviour, group dynamics, public policy, political systems, and cultural dynamics. Through a combination of lectures, seminars and field work students will develop a strong understanding of how sociological principles are applied to the study of everyday life. As part of the program, students will take courses such as Social Theory, Global Perspectives on Social Problems, Research Methods in Sociology and Contemporary Issues in Sociology. Furthermore, they will have access to world-class faculty and research centres that allow them to conduct their own research projects or pursue advanced studies leading towards PhDs or other related fields. Upon completion graduates of this program will be well prepared for careers in academia or government where they could make meaningful contributions to the field of sociology.
